How to setup authenticated SMTP

authsmtpAuthenticated SMTP is a service that allows you to send email via our servers. This is usually the smtp server of your internet provider (cable/dsl etc.). If you do not have an internet provider, or if you are on the road a lot, or if you connect in places where outgoing email does not work or is even blocked, this service can be of use. To use this service, there is a charge.

Explanation of the settings:
In the picture we have used Thunderbird, the email client by the creators of the Firefox browser. If you use another email client, the picture will look different, but the essence is the same.

  • Description: a free description, eg. your emailaddress
  • Server name: usually mailproxy.hensel.nl (or your own domain, like mail.example.com)
  • Port: default port is 25, but if this is blocked by your provider, you can use 26 or 2525.
  • Username: usually the same username that you use for the Customer Care Center or FTP – in some cases you enter your complete emailaddress, but if that’s the case, you have been notified.
  • Password: the password you received from us (in this picture you cannot enter the password, because the program will ask for it later, this differs per emailclient) – in some cases the password is equal to your incoming password (POP/IMAP).
  • Secure connection: not in use, so -No-
